CTF FAQ

A quick guide for players who are new to capture the flag competitions.

What is a CTF?
A Capture The Flag competition is a cybersecurity game where players solve security challenges and submit flags to earn points.
What kinds of challenges are usually in a CTF?
Most events include web, reverse engineering, forensics, cryptography, OSINT, pwn, and miscellaneous logic-based tasks.
Do I need to be an expert to play?
No. CTFs are one of the best ways to learn by doing, and beginners can start with easier challenges and build up gradually.
How do scoring and flags work?
Each challenge has a flag hidden behind the solution path. When you submit the correct flag, your team earns the challenge points.
What should I do if I get stuck?
Re-read the description, inspect every clue carefully, test small assumptions, and move to another challenge for a while if needed.
Why are CTFs useful?
They improve problem solving, technical depth, teamwork, and practical security skills in a hands-on environment.
